FURTHER THAN BEYOND

The project introduced Kirklees children to the art of Portugese artist Joanna Vasconcelos and to Yorkshire Sculpture Park. The children and young people were able to virtually visit the Vasconcelos exhibition at Yorkshire Sculpture Park through a film created for the project. A Q and A session with a curator at Yorkshire Sculpture Park offered a glimpse into how large-scale artworks are created.

Inspired by the organic forms of Vasconcelos Valkyries series and by her use of household objects throughout her sculptures the young artists at The Children’s Art School designed and created structures to support textile pieces created by hundreds of children from 10 schools across Kirklees.

This project is a collaboration between Our Biennale and Woven in Kirklees.
